Learn to Skate
Our learn to skate program is for kids that are looking to become hockey players. The program is designed for children starting from 2 years old. Once your child is ready to move on to hockey, we will place your child on a pre-mite or mite team. If your child likes to have fun, play games, and listening to music all at the same time, this is the perfect program for them.
When: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sundays. Times may vary, make sure you sign up online!
What to Bring:
Skates – If you do not have some don’t worry we do and its included in the price,
Helmet – Safety First! Bike Helmets or Hockey Helmet
Warm Clothing – Gloves, Coats, Snow pants or Snow Suit. Cover all skin!
Additional equipment – Hockey Stick, knee pads, elbow pads. Please make sure your child is able to bend over and touch their toes, squat, fall over and get back up. No rush on equipment, we want the kids to be flexible when they are just starting out.
Cost: $10 per class

About Evolve Youth Teams
The Rochester Coalition was formed through a partnership between Rochester Youth Hockey (RYH) and the Rochester Grizzlies. This collaboration ensures players of all skill levels have a team and development pathway that fits their needs—from beginners to elite athletes.
Evolve Mite Hockey (ages 8U and below) is chartered under the Rochester Grizzlies, a Tier 2 organization operating out of Village Sports in Fairport, NY.
History of Evolve Mites
The Rochester Grizzlies were founded in 2007 by Glenn Collins. The Grizzlies program grew to support players from Learn to Skate through Midget-level hockey. With the growing demand for Tier 1 hockey opportunities, the Grizzlies partnered with Rochester Youth Hockey (a Tier 1 program), creating the Rochester Coalition—a unified system that supports player development at all levels.
As Glenn’s children completed their own hockey careers, they returned to Rochester and launched Evolve Hockey—a training company committed to developing players from age 2 through professional levels.
Evolve Hockey continues to lead the development of the Mite (8U and under) program, maintaining their proven model focused on age-appropriate training, long-term athlete development, and a love for the game.
By keeping the youngest age groups under the Evolve structure, we ensure a strong foundation built on years of experience and consistent success.

6U Hockey Program
Welcome to our 6U Hockey Program—where we learn through play and build a love for the game from day one! This program is designed for young athletes ages 3 to 6 years old who are ready to hit the ice with full equipment and a hockey stick in hand.
Through fun, engaging practices and games, players will develop the fundamentals of skating, hockey skills, and game sense in a supportive and high-energy environment. Our motto is simple: #justgetgood—because at this age, improvement and enjoyment go hand in hand.

Fridays at 5:00 PM
Sundays at 9:00 AM
Birth Year 2019:
Fridays at 6:00 PM
Sundays at 10:00 AM
Game Days:
Throughout the season, we host game days where players can show off their skills and enjoy the thrill of playing in front of their families!
Cost: $800

Kelly Collins
Kelly holds a degree in Childhood Education and a Master’s in Reading and Literacy, bringing a unique understanding of how young athletes learn and develop. Her coaching philosophy centers around creating a fun, positive environment where kids feel confident, supported, and excited to grow. Whether it’s their first time on the ice or they’re chasing higher-level goals, Kelly has a gift for connecting with young athletes and helping them unlock their full potential—often without them even realizing how much they’re learning.

Whether your child is just stepping onto the ice for the first time or already has a season under their belt, our Evolve 8U Mite Program offers something for everyone. We’re here to help every young athlete develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.
At Evolve, our focus is on fun, fundamentals, and development through play. We believe kids learn best when they’re enjoying what they do—and we build our program around that philosophy.
What We Offer:
Weekly Practices – Skill-focused and age-appropriate sessions led by experienced coaches.
Clinics & Training Camps – Special opportunities for extra instruction and development.
Goalie Training – Support and guidance for young goalies who want to grow in the position.
Off-Ice Clinics – Activities that build athleticism, coordination, and hockey IQ.
Character Development – Players are introduced to the John Wooden Pyramid of Success, learning life lessons like teamwork, effort, and integrity through hockey.
Monthly Coaches & Parent Meetings – Open communication and collaboration to support each player’s development and ensure everyone understands our unique Evolve model.
Our coaching staff is passionate about developing well-rounded athletes and helping each player reach their potential in a positive, encouraging environment.

Skills Clinics
Evolve Hockey Camps
This camp is designed to provide opportunities for players who are looking to improve on skating, skills, and overall hockey sense. The players will focus on power skating, skills, and small area games. Off Ice sticking handling progressions, agility/speed and other off ice activities include character discussions, and multi-sport activities.

Private lessons
The Evolve Academy at Rochester Ice Center is offering private instruction from many of their additional professional coaches. They offer a variety of time and dates for your player to work on skills, skating, and any specific requests you have!
